About This Painting:
Painted on request from a client. This is based on Monet's famous painting of the poppy fields. I've done an interpretation of this painting before in miniature format and really enjoy the process. Musicians are fortunate in that they can preform compositions by their favorite composers, masters like Bach, Beethoven, Mozart and Handle and in that way really enter into the mind of a musical genius and get to know them through their music. As painters the only way to do something similar is to make copies of famous paintings. Just as preformers and conductors are able to take some license and apply their own personal interpretation to a symphony or sonata so as a painter I am able to base a painting on a famous work and infuse it with my own interpretation while all the while benefitting from an intimate encounter with the original piece.
